Before Home is Best Cleaning and Detailing shares a Cleaning Tip on dusting.

Have you ever asked yourself  “Where do those Cobwebs come from?”

Cobwebs vs. Spider Webs
The single fact that can defuse this argument is that cobwebs as well as spider webs are technically the same thing.  That means, both cobwebs and spider webs are made by  spiders!  The only difference is that, those that are called ‘cobwebs’, mostly irregular in form, are made by a particular sub-species of spiders. While, what we call ’spider webs’ are more elaborately designed and built by an even different sub-species.

Cobwebs
Cobwebs are the irregular tangled webs created by our eight-legged friends. The origin of the word ‘cobweb’ probably comes from an old English word for spider, which is ‘coppe’.

Cobwebs are made up of haphazard patterns of lines stitched together at random, according to the whim of spiders. These are the spider webs you notice, which are quietly created in unused corners of your house and eventually gather lots of dust, making them more visible and creepy cobwebs!

Spider Webs
The other side of the cobwebs vs spider webs comparison are the more elegant and sophisticated webs designed by spiders, known generically as just spider webs. These spider webs, just like cobwebs are created from a proteinaceous fluid emitted by specialized glands called spinnerets located at the abdominal tips of spiders. The material that they are made up of is known as spider silk.

At Home is Best Cleaning and Detailing we use only Swiffer Dusters in our Dusting, because they are effective!

To ensure all of the items that need dusting are not overlooked, we use this simple method.

We begin each room with upper dusting along the edges of the ceiling all around the entire room, ceiling fans, and overhead or recessed light fixtures.

The next step is to mid-level dusting, this includes all of the pictures, mirrors, lamps, furniture, televisions, ect., and vertical corners of the walls. (use duster and cotton cloth with wood polish)

The final dusting is lower dusting of the baseboards.

Even though our dusters trap the dust, dusting should always be done top to bottom!
